Ty Dillon "scattered, smothered, and covered" the field Saturday at Gresham Motorsports Park, driving the Waffle House-sponsored black No. 3 Chevrolet to his first win in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. (And we thank Brandon Reed for the headline.) Julian Albarracin also deserves a mention, as he "watered" the track on lap 91, sliding into the protective hydro barrier and soaking turn two. It took a 63 minute red flag and 28 yellow-flag laps to get back to racing. Dillon, the 18-year-old grandson of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series car owner Richard Childress, inherited the top spot when the two leaders got together late in the event and then held on to win the action-filled race that concluded with a yellow-checkered finish. He came into the event with five top 10s in eight career NKNPS East starts, including a second at Iowa. Dillon's brother, Austin, was the 2008 K&N Pro Series East Sunoco Rookie of the Year. Max Gresham, of Griffin, started 14th, drove his way into the Top-5, and then suffered a cut tire and had to pit with less than five laps remaining. He finished 12th. Brandon 'Cornbread' Haley made a solid impression wheeling his No. 51 mount to a 10th-place finish. The event was just the second pavement career race for the Lavonia, GA, dirt-track ace. Series rookie Kevin Swindell, son of the sprint car star, won the Coors Light Pole Award and led a career- and race-high 123 laps before crashing with defending series champion Ryan Truex on lap 137. There were 70 (of 150) laps run under 12 yellow flags. 15 of 25 starters were running at the end. It was Waffle House's first race, and the track had new sponsorships from the American Fence Association and Mayfield Ice Creamier. Next at Greshams: George Elliott Memorial 100 Super Late Model Race Presented By Monolith Companies. Patrick Sheltra scored a victory for the second consecutive race in the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards, winning by 1.669 seconds over Steve Arpin. With his win at Chicagoland Speedway - his first on a speedway and the third of his 82-race career - Sheltra became the second driver with multiple and back-to-back victories this season, joining Arpin. Casey Roderick (No. 51 Phoenix Racing/Bill Elliott Racing Chevrolet), from Lawrenceville, the third starter, hit the wall and caused a reaction that led to Mikey Kile (No. 25 Texas Corral Toyota) turning into Chad McCumbee (No. 1 ModSpace/Red Cross Disaster Relief Ford) on Lap 7. Four Georgians entered: 12. (18) Kyle Fowler, Smyrna, Ga., Chevrolet, 100; 15. (21) Chris Cockrum, Conyers, Ga., Chevrolet, 100; 30. (31) Mark Gibson, Winder, Ga., Dodge, 21, handling; 32. Second-generation sprint car racer, Matt Linder from Hoschton, GA, captured the win in the 30-lap United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear 3rd Annual Randy Helton Memorial Race at New Senoia Raceway on Saturday night. The victory was Linder’s second USCS win of the year. The race, contested before a near capacity crowd around the 3/8 mile clay oval, honored former United Sprint Car Series driver Randy Helton from Palmetto, GA, who passed away from a heart attack in 2008. Linder’s crew chief and father is former sprint car racer and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame inductee Fred Linder. The race will possibly be more remembered for the first lap crash that halted all but five of the nineteen starters when defending series Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, TN, who started from the K&N Filters Pole Position, broke the left side rear axle on his #10 J&J Auto Racing car while charging down the back stretch on lap one. Gray then spun around and started flipping before being struck in the top wing and roll cage by both Johnny Bridges and David Thorman. With many of the fourteen involved cars damaged and needing repair or needing assessment before the race was re-started, the decision was made to remove the field from the racing surface to allow the other divisions to continue racing while the sprint car field was re-assembled. After about an hour, fifteen of the original starters were pushed off for the re-start with the five cars that did not stop on the racing surface or get involved in the wreck in the front of the field. All of the other cars involved in the caution incident re-aligned behind them according to their original starting position. Friday: Defending United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, TN, charged from a seventh place starting position into victory lane in the 25-lap Senoia Summer Nationals Round One “Race for Two Randy’s” main event at New Senoia Raceway on Friday night. The race honored two USCS racing pioneers, Randy Scott and Randy Helton who both passed away in 2008. Gray bested a twenty-car field of drivers from six states for the win including 15 year-old rookie driver Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina who led thirteen of the first seventeen circuits before the veteran (Gray) managed to pass him for the lead in a group of lapped cars. It was Gray’s fourth USCS presented by Goodyear win of the season. Chase Elliott overcame a crash in practice and some misfortune in the race to score a seventh-place finish in Saturday's Cabarrus Boys and Girls Club 250 at Concord Motor Speedway. The debut of the Red Bull colors on his Ford didn't look exactly like he had planned. Elliott wrecked in testing on Friday after only a handful of laps on the track. The team opted to repair the severely damaged rear frame as their back-up car was already prepared for a test on Monday at Bristol Motor Speedway. Elliott qualified sixth with a speed of 105.553 miles per hour. Elliott's next race will be on Saturday at North Wilkesboro Speedway in the PASS South Super Late Modelseries Labor Day Classic 200.

Tom Darby was strong in the 111 car this week until he dropped out and left a 4 car race, at the flag it was the C12 of Chapman crossing the line first , but when he crossed the scales all the top cars were being checked, and Chapman who was in a new car was found “Illegal” due to him having a 400 CID Engine in a class where the rule is 350. so it was Tom Peters taking the win. < Crate 1 Jeff Smith 2 Randy Hill 3 Darrell Owenby 4 Kayne Hickman 5 Sam Parrish 6 Aaron Wheat 7 Kevin Sutton 8 Scott Franks 9 Kevin Burke 10 Lee Deal 11 Don King DNS < Limited 1 Trig Parris 2 Brian Burke 3 Devin Dilbeck 4 kee Gray 5 Aaron Wilson 6 Chip Burke 7 Jarrod Choate 8 Jamie Lunsford 9 Wesley Seabolt 10 Zach Pilcher 11 Gabe Queen 12 Justin Walston 13 Shane Turner 14 Johnny Cloer Jr 15 Keith Jackson DNS 16 Jason Dowdy DNS < Supers 1 Ronnie Johnson 2 Kevin Gibson 3 David Payne 4 Gar Dickson 5 Aaron Ridley 6 Brad Coffey 7 Gary MacPhearson 8 Jamie Oliver 9 Preston Graves 10 Rodney Weeks 11 Brad Kennedy 12 Jerry Bradley 13 George Mashburn 14 Zeke Buchanan 15 Derek Ellis 16 BJ Pasley DNS 17 Jeff Franklin DNS
