His team took home $2183, incl. $250 for the WIX Filters Hard Charger Award. http://www.procupdigest.com Joseph Lewis has been racing cars only since 2003 — and just around Southwest Georgia and East Alabama, at that — but Saturday night in South Boston, Va., he took his blossoming racing career up a notch making his pro debut. He filled in as the driver for Mark Gibson Racing, which needed someone to run its No. 59 Chevy Impala race car in the USAR ProCup Series in South Boston, Va.

Billy Moyer walked a tight rope to victory in Sunday afternoon’s postponed DIRTcar Racing-sanctioned Dirt Late Model Dream XVI at Eldora Speedway. Living up to his ‘Mr. Smooth’ nickname, the 52-year-old dirt Late Model Hall of Famer from Batesville, Ark., overtook Ray Cook of Brasstown, N.C., for the lead on a lap-20 restart and never made a mistake the remainder of the 100-lap distance. He tamed a slick daytime track surface dominated by a precarious top lane to pocket the prestigious race’s $100,000 winner’s check for the second time in his legendary career. In a race that saw cars repeatedly sustain right-rear body damage from bouts with the Big E’s unforgiving outside wall – including those driven by runner-up Cook and third-place finisher Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, Ga. – Moyer got his Clements-powered Victory Circle Chassis to the checkered flag virtually unscathed. Dream full run down: 1. Billy Moyer[1]; 2. Ray Cook[2]; 3. Dale McDowell[19]; 4. Chris Madden[21]; 5. Scott Bloomquist[12]; 6. Josh Richards[16]; 7. Don O'Neal[26]; 8. John Blankenship[11]; 9. Casey Roberts[6]; Shane Clanton, from Locust Grove, Ga., appeared primed to grab the $100,000 until a cruel twist of fate left him only ‘dreaming’ of the cash that slipped through his fingers. His car’s right-rear shock bolt broke, knocking him out of action on the 68th circuit. Rather than a division-high $100,000 payday – or even a still-cool $20,000 for second place – Clanton was left sulking with a 13th-place finish worth $1,800. Clint Smith caught the concrete during his time-trial lap and was done after a C-Main tangle left him with a 13th-place finish. www.worldofoutlaws.com
