This Friday night Anderson Motor Speedway fans can try their luck at racing the 3/8 mile asphalt oval. Banana spectator racing highlights the race card as one lucky winner will receive $200 and a very cool banana of a trophy. Any individual can enter his or her personal vehicle (car or truck) in the race. Drivers make the first lap, stop at the Finish Line, dash to the Infield Concession Stand where they grab and eat a banana (our version of a Pit Stop). After returning to their respective cars from the “pit stop”, participants must make a second lap around the track. The winner is the driver who takes the checker flag first. Also on the race card is the AMS weekly racing program featuring the B Mini Stock, C Mini Stock, Renegade, Super Renegade, BM Modified, and Legends divisions. Kids can cool off by participating in the Water Balloon Toss!!! Face painting is always FREE for kids! Racing begins at 8PM.

Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Friday Night Drags resumes with the first of three FastLife Friday events featuring celebrity drag racing. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and nightly drag race eliminations start after 9:00 p.m. Last week Scott Bates, of Locust Grove, won the Sportsman Class again in his 1962 Nova Station Wagon. Bubba Harry, of Griffin, won the Tuners Div. in a 1937 Ford Sedan Legends car. Bubba has won championships in almost all of AMS's Legends oval track divisions. After a display of temper last year, he was suspended from the oval. www.atlantamotorspeedway.com
Sean Rayhall, age 15, of Winston, joined the Legends ranks after dominating in open-wheel formats and has been competing in a Legends car for just a matter of months. Despite his lack of experience on the short track, Rayhall collected a win in his first off-season Legends race at Atlanta Motor Speedway and was closing on back-to-back off-season wins when he suffered an equipment failure. Rayhall completed the weekend sweep at Miller Motorsports Park (Utah), winning Rounds Five and Six of the Formula Enterprises Pro Series from the pole position in nine-car races. Sean Rayhall has taken over the FE Pro Series championship lead with four consecutive wins. Next: September 4-5), with Rounds Seven and Eight at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota

Thursday Thunder at Atlanta Motor Speedway is an affordably-priced activity that offers something for spectators of all ages. Tickets are just $5 for adults and $1 for children 6-11 (ages 5 and under are free) for each evening of family fun and grass-roots racing. Gates open at 6 p.m., heat races start at 6:15 p.m. and feature races start at approximately 7:50 p.m. Absent from the race track for nearly 10 years, William Plemons III quickly brushed off the proverbial rust when he claimed victory in the Dixie Home Crafters Semi-Pro division during Atlanta Motor Speedway’s opening week of Thursday Thunder racing. Plemons, who resides in Vinings, last appeared in a Thursday Thunder race at Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2001, with his last victory coming in 1998 over the likes of current NASCAR driver Reed Sorenson. When he graduated high school in 2001, Plemons put aside his driving gloves and enrolled at Clemson University, leaving his Legends car sitting idle in the shop: “I always loved racing,” said Plemons, “but never looked at it as a career and put education first.” But when the 27-year old arrived in the “Thunder Ring” for 2010’s points opener, victory was far from a foregone conclusion. “I was not expecting to immediately win races, but rather to do it for fun,” explained Plemons. “It was like getting back on a bicycle to tell you the truth. I thought there would be a sharp learning curve and I just planned to piddle around and have fun, but we were pretty quick out there.” Week 1 Feature Winners: Bandits: Alex Coffey Outlaws: John Holleman Young Lions: Sean Rayhall Semi-Pro: Willian Plemmons III Masters: Rick Geddes Pro: Donald McIntosh www.atlantamotorspeedway.com Full report at http://www.georgiastockcarracing.com

At the Martinsville NASCAR K&N Pro Series East show, Andrew Smith, of Pooler, was fastest in practice, and qualified eighth. A spin, and then a broken axle, resulted in a 26th place finish. Max Gresham, of Griffin, also had bad luck, qualifying 16th and finishing 17th in his Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Brandon "Cornbread" Haley, of Lavonia, qualified his Ford 25th, and completed 170 laps for 20th place, winning $1,200. Haley was driving for Reed Motorsports, as he attempts to make the move from dirt to asphalt. He's kept one crate-motored dirt LM, and won with it at Hartwell Mar. 20. Casey Roderick, the up-and coming driver from Lawrenceville, who is part of Bill Elliott's Driver Development program, has lost his sponsor and is leaving his Late Model racing behind. He'll be putting all his focus on big track racing - specifically ARCA. His change of plans means his next outing will be in the ARCA race at Iowa Speedway July 10. Elliott and Roderick made the decision to concentrate on what Elliott believes it will take to move Roderick into the next level of his career. "We need to focus all of our energy right now on ARCA," said Elliott. "Casey will be 18 in August, and we will be taking another big step, moving on to bigger race tracks to gain the necessary experience for approval to compete in NASCAR's Nationwide Series." The summertime stretch of superspeedway racing will take Roderick from the 7/8-mile oval in Iowa to the mile-and-a-half tracks of Chicagoland and Kansas speedways. "This is the biggest opportunity I have ever had and the most exciting," said Roderick. "I am going to do anything and everything to make the most of it - whatever it takes." James Finch, owner of Phoenix Racing, also will support Roderick's rise through the ranks. Finch, who has played a key role in developing young drivers including current Nationwide Series points leader Brad Keselowski, said he too is committed to helping Roderick. "I hope the experience Casey gains on the bigger tracks will garner him approval from NASCAR to race in the Nationwide Series at Phoenix this November," Finch said. "I am looking forward to racing with Casey." The ARCA series offers televised events and national media coverage. Roderick is making a serious run at the Legends Million, a $250,000-to-win, $10,000 to start, race at Charlotte July 15-17. He led early, and finished second, in the 28-car Legends Pro race at Charlotte Tuesday. Following a meeting at the Bankrupcy Court in Monroe, LA, Monroe Motor Speedway has been officially closed for now. No further racing will take place until further notice. Monroe Motor Speedway is now in Chapter 7 and bids for purchasing the race track will be forthcoming. More information on when the bidding will take place, date and time, will be announced as soon as possible.

Andy Loden’s high, wide, and handsome move to the outside of Jay Fogleman on lap ninety-one of Friday night’s Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Piedmont Pride 150 at Ace Speedway sealed his second career PASS South series super late model victory in less than a week. Justin Wakefield, of Woodstock, was chopping his way through the field with lap times faster than the leaders. Wakefield would make his way all the way up to battle a fading Jay Fogleman for second when the two tangled, sending a fast Wakefield spinning and out of contention for the win. Wakefield’s spin bunched the field up, giving all challengers a fair shot at leader Loden but no one came even close to the top spot. Chase Elliott and the crew of his Aaron's Dream Machine played the weather strategy to perfection and came away a winner in Saturday's rain-shortened "Show Me the Money" race at Montgomery Motor Speedway. Elliott and his crew figured they'd need to be in front in case the rains came, so that was their strategy from the start. Elliott started on the outside pole beside Bubba Pollard. At Lap 47, rain began to fall mixed with severe lightening, and within an hour's time officials called off the remainder of the event, awarding the win to Elliott.
