Not directly related to the above: Donald Wayne Goodman, Monroe (LA) Motor Speedway Late Model Driver #602, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday afternoon, following a crash during a Late Model Heat Race. "Donald Wayne was a great man who LOVED racing. He was an absolute joy to be around and to watch race. His love of life showed in his driving! Donald Wayne loved to live life on the edge! Donald Wayne always said that kids held a very special place in his heart! He loved to watch the Bandos race and supported them 100%. He always said 'Racing Keeps Kids out of Trouble!'" Goodman was the LM points leader at Monroe, where a win paid $950, and that was usually cut in half when less than 15 cars showed up. Goodman operated Goodman Flying Service in Chase, LA, a part of the agricultural aviation industry. His son was training to become an ag pilot. http://www.monroemotorspeedway.com/http://agairupdate2.blogspot.com/2010/06/ag-aviation-loses-donald-wayne-goodman.html#comment-form

Johnny: Sugar Creek, I won at Sugar Creek on Friday night my first race and come to North GA and won on Saturday night so I won my first 2 races back to back on consecutive nights, it seemed like forever we would win the heat races then run second time after time, but when you win that first one it comes easier then. From Trackchaser Randy Lewis, in Oklahoma, at Will Rogers Raceway, a little 1/6-mile banked dirt oval (and he got in free as a senior over age 60): "I stayed for four feature events. How many cars raced in those features in total? Fifteen! Most folks don’t think that 15 cars make up a 'full field' for a single feature event let alone four features. Folks, is short track auto racing going the way of the drive-in movie? "Just about everywhere I go, car counts are down and crowds are anemic. Tonight there were about 50 people in the stands on a beautiful night for racing." http://www.randylewis.org/1541willrogersraceway.htm

Ray Cook, of Brasstown, NC, etched his name in the DART Show Me 100 history book for the second time, as he claimed the 18th edition of the event on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO, in front of a capacity crowd in what could only be described as possibly one of the greatest races ever. Cook took home $30,000. Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Series have suspended driver Will Vaught for one year, starting May 30, 2010. Vaught, after contact with another driver on the race track, drove up the back straight-away, from turn three to the pit exit near turn two and against traffic and into the pit area. Continuing into the hot pit area, Vaught used his race car to assault driver Jesse Stovall - still in his car. Vaught crashed into Stovall's car causing severe damage and exposing crew members and others to risk of death or serious injury. This suspension applies to the Lucas Oil Speedway and the Lucas Oil MLRA.
