The Southern All Stars points chase continues Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. Leader Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, of Northport, AL, is just 36 points ahead of Randy Weaver, of Crossville, TN. Hollingsworth is fresh off his biggest career victory in this past weekend's Coors Light Fall Classic at Whynot (MS) Motorsports Complex, and he has visited victory lane at TST in Southern All Stars competition. The normally raucous NASCAR Weekend crowd at Talladega Short Track should be extra energized, given Saturday is Halloween night. "There is always a buzz in the air on NASCAR weekends and the place is usually packed so I am sure with it being Halloween we will be in for some wild sights," said SAS General Manager Kelley Carlton. Hollingsworth and Weaver will lead series other regulars like Todd Morrow and Ethan Hunter into the facility deemed "The Hornet's Nest". Several other national and regional drivers are expected including Clint Smith, Shane Clanton, Chris Madden and Tony Knowles. Talladega also boasts some of the strongest weekly competition in the Country. Drivers like Tim Busha, who picked up the last Southern All Stars win at TST, as well as Dingus Griffin, Terry Smith, and Danny Peoples have proved time and again that a driver has to be on his game to beat the locals at Talladega. TST also has a Friday show, including super late models, and a $2,000 to win purse. www.talladegashorttrack.com www.southern-allstars.com

First LM Dirt Touring Series 2010 schedule comes from Lucas, and it includes 41 dates in 19 states - ending with a triple header at Talladega Short Track, Dixie, and Rome Oct. 8-9-10. The tour stopped at Swainsboro, North Georgia, and Screven in 2009, but they are not on the 2010 schedule. Redd, Screven's promoter, said that Lucas did not want to come that far south, due to finances, but he has booked the WoO LMs for March. Redd's also trying to start a joint series with shows at Screven, Swainsboro, and Oglethorpe in 2010. 2009 was the most successful season in series' history - 40 events with 22 different winners and 606 drivers making at least one appearance in '09. 13 drivers competed full time with the tour. The 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series national tour will kick off at the "Clay by the Bay" February 1st with the six straight nights of action packed racing of the 34th Annual Dart Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL. www.lucasdirt.com

After leader Ronnie Johnson tangled with lapped traffic with five laps remaining and went to the pits for a tire change, Randy Weaver, of Crossville, TN, would give Ogle all he could handle in the closing laps and even pulled along side for a near photo finish at the stripe but Ogle would not be denied his fourth victory of the season and the 2009 TTDCS Championship. In Victory Lane, Ogle dedicated the season to his long-time friend and former race car owner, the late James Vanover. SHARPE CRUSHES STELLAR FIELD IN COCHRAN REGULAR SEASON FINALE By: Rev. Todd Shearin Jimmy Sharpe has been a faithful and consistent driver throughout the 2009 season. On most any given week you could find him near the front challenging for the lead, but the likeable driver from South Georgia had not scored a win for all of his efforts. Saturday was the end of regular season racing at CMS and Sharpe bested a 22 car field full of past champions and race winners, many of which have wins at Cochran this year. Sharpe sat on the front row along side of pole sitter Dennis McDaniel and gained the advantage at the start. The race was slowed 4 times by the caution flag yet Sharpe consistently powered away on each restart. Tony head had a good run in a rare appearance in a late model to finish second. Frank Williams was third after a late race pass on Dennis McDaniel. Jordy Nipper completed the top 5. I talked with Jimmy after the race and he was very humble about his win as well as thankful. Sharpe told me that this was a great “shot in the arm, we sure needed this”. Eric Baggett won the sportsman feature over Johnny Tribble and Montie Vaughn. Troy Talley took the win in pure stock action. Chris Pittman scored the cadet win in what turned out to be a test of survival for whoever was leading. Four drivers that had led this race all were sidelined for various reasons on consecutive laps after getting the lead. Wesley Brown visited victory lane again in road warrior action. Brown and Wil Herrington battled each other hard until mechanical problems ended Herrington’s night. Ricky Brown and Lisa Casteel rounded out the top 3. We would like to give a very special thanks to all of you that have supported us this year.
