TST: $10,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100
The $10,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL on September 17-18-19 is the next event for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour. Although pre-registration is closed, drivers can still register for the race at the track on September 17 and pay the $150 entry fee.

The Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire will be a non-points race for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and membership to the series will not be required. The race will be run under the rules and race procedures of the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series, who will also tech and officiate the event.

The race will be 100 green flag laps with no fuel stop. The tire rule for the Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire will be the Hoosier Crate Racin’ USA or Crate stamped D21 and D55, with an option to run the Hoosier D70 on the right-rear only. NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series rules can be found online at www.nesmithracing.com.

Talladega Short Track will open at 12 noon on Thursday, September 17 for registration and tech, plus a practice Session from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The preliminary events for the Red Top Auto Auctions Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire will be on Friday, September 18. The pit gate opens at 1 p.m., and registration and tech will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Drivers Meeting at 6 p.m., and Hot Laps are scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

On Friday night, September 18, drivers will compete in two-lap time trial runs in Group Qualifying, and six 20-lap Heat Races that will start straight-up by qualifying groups. The top three finishers in each heat race will transfer to the main event to make up the “Elite 18.”

There will also be a six-lap Dash on Friday night, September 18 for the six heat race winners, who will draw for their starting positions The way they finish the Dash is how they will line-up in the first six starting spots for the main event on Saturday night, September 19.

Talladega Short Track will host a Pit Area Barbeque after the racing events have been completed on Friday night, September 18.

Saturday, September 19 will see the pit gate open at 1 p.m. with the Drivers Meeting set for 6 p.m., and racing is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. There will be no Hot Laps and the program will begin with four 20-lap B-Main races for drivers that finished fourth on back in the six Friday night heat races. The four B-Main winners will transfer to the main event in starting spots 19-22.

After the B-Main races, the top two fastest qualifiers not yet transferred into the big show will be added to the field in starting spots 23 and 24. The NeSmith Chevrolet DLMS will add one provisional in starting spot 25, and Talladega Short Track will add one provisional in starting spot 26.

If a driver has not made the Red Top Auto Auction Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire by this point, don’t give up. There is still one more opportunity to make the first $10,000-to-win race at Talladega Short Track in 20 years.

There will be two Non-Qualifier Races where the race winners will have the option to take the first-place money of $500 and call it night, or they can start on the tail of the $10,000-to-win Red Top Auto Auction Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire.

When a possible starting field of 28 cars take the green flag for the Red Top Auto Auction Dega 100 Presented By Hoosier Race Tire on the ¼-mile clay oval at Talladega Short Track, it will live up to the track’s nickname of “The Hornets Nest!”
