MIKE PARKERSON-BOBBY PULSIFER ADD NAMES TO WINNERS LIST
By: Rev. Todd Shearin
The staff at Cochran Speedway were met with new challenges this week. Sometime on Thursday a fire broke out and destroyed the infield concession stand along with the restroom facilities. The fire also took it’s toll on the electrical system which in turn put track officials in a scrambling mode to make repairs in order for the track lighting to be restored. This was no small task and it literally took right up to race time to get it fixed delaying the start by over an hour. A special thanks to Bobby Pulsifer Sr. and all of those who worked tirelessly on this repair. When racing started it was veteran driver Mike Parkerson taking the win in the late model feature. Parkerson started on the pole and beat Phil Pittman to the first turn and went on to lead every lap in a dominate performance. The race was slowed two times for the caution flag and was otherwise very safe and quick. I had a chance to speak with Mike after the race and he wished to dedicate his win to his wife Leslie who was on hand to see her husbands victory. Wiley McDaniel overtook Jason Floyd in the early going to win the pure stock feature. The field consisted of several previous winners and made for an exciting race with McDaniel pulling away to a comfortable lead at the midway point. Bobby Pulsifer Jr. grabbed his first career win in the cadet feature. Pulsifer who is the son of the aforementioned electrician drove a flawless race to score the win. There was never any serious challenges for the lead but there was some strong racing for second and further back. Pulsifer is just 16 years old and has a bright future ahead of him ,congrats on your win Bobby. In road warrior action Wil Herrington scored the win from the third starting spot. TJ Woodard battled Herrington hard in the opening laps but was unable to make the pass. We want to congratulate all of our winners and thank all of our sponsors, racers, and fans for your loyal support. With a NLMS race in close proximity to CMS, and rumors that the unexpected fire had caused Saturday’s races to be cancelled our car count was lower than normal but CMS is stronger than ever and is producing some of the best racing in the history of the track. That is the nature of racing, but promoter Buddy Churchwell invites everyone back this weekend when Lord willing we will be back at full strength with large car counts and awesome racing. Before I close I would like to request prayer for two special members of our racing family who are battling some health issues. For the sake of privacy I won’t mention names at this time but to my two precious brothers in Christ, I want you to know that I am praying for you and God really is our hope! May God bless you all.
