BRASELTON GA: Terry Roberts, General Manager for the Georgia Asphalt Series & Lanier National Speedway announced on Tuesday that the GAS will kick off its 2009 season at Watermelon Capital Speedway in Cordele GA on April 4th. This will be the first event of the season that has already received great attention with the announcement of the all new 2009 Triple Crown $50,000 Challenge for the GAS.
In conjunction with the season opener for the GAS, R.J. Scott announced on Tuesday night's Speed 51 Radio show that the first-ever CRA South Super Late Model race will take place at Watermelon Capital Speedway (GA) on April 4th.
“This is a great showcase event for these two great race series” said Roberts, “Lots of drivers will run both races and really give the fans a great weekend of short track action”.
“The event is sure to be a great way to start the season” said Donnie Clack, owner of Lanier Speedway and the GAS. “We look forward to a great weekend with R.J. and the whole CRA South gang as they start the new season as well”.
This race weekend will also be the debut of the all new GAS Radio Network which will broadcast the race action live from Cordele on the world wide web at, www.lanierspeedway.com.
“The GAS Radio Network has already created a lot of buzz” said Scott Pinner, Lanier Media Director. “When we started out we knew it would take time to get some traction but it has really taken off”.
Pinner is the co-founder and creator of the former, Big Stick Racing Network which he left in order to start the GAS Radio effort and expand multi-media coverage of short track racing. With Lanier as its base, the GAS Radio Network now has a more direct tie to the racing world and can better serve the needs of drivers and fans alike.
