TONY MILES CLAIMS THUNDERCAR SUMMER CHAMPIONSHIP AT TALLADEGA

Eastaboga, AL (August 2, 2008) – Tony Miles bested a twenty-four car Thundercar field for the win and the $500 prize in the annual Summer Thundercar Championship event at Talladega Short Track on Saturday Night.

The race was slowed by only one caution flag, on lap one of the twenty-lap feature event.

Billy Bright finished in the second spot with Bubba Haynes in third. Scott Magouirk finished fourth with Eric Smith rounding out the top five.

James Cline used the high-side to grab the lead from Tim Busha on lap fifteen to pick up his second Super Late Model feature event win of the 2008 racing season. Busha would finish in second and current TST Points Leader Terry Smith in third.

Jerry Goodwin returned to a familiar place, victory lane, picking up the win in Crate Late Model action over Brian Ponder in second and Landon Sims third.

Dustin Stewart picked up the win in the twenty-five lap Sportsman feature event over Michael Williams in second and Joe Noojin third.

Scottie Hiett won the twenty-lap IMCA Modified feature event over Jeff Harry in second and Pete Cobb third.

Phillip Haynes won the Street Stock feature event with Richard Morrow winning the Hot Shot feature.

Talladega Short Track resumes this Saturday Night featuring the “Keith Hays Tribute Race” which will feature three Super Late Model feature races plus a full racing program in all other divisions. Gates will open at 4PM with races scheduled to begin at 7:30PM.
