Boyd's Speedway Result
It was another HOT night in the Tennessee Valley and time for the Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series to invade the New Boyd Speedway for their second visit of the year. The racing got started in the A-HOBBY heats races. In Heat Race one Lynn Gibson would pilot his #14 to victory lane over a hard charging #32 of Michael Sharpnack and third place finisher #4 Aaron Begley. In the second Heat Race Steve Tate in his T1 would go on to win over Gary Johnson and Lynn McNeese. The Advance Auto Parts Super Late Models were up next to take their 2 Laps of Qualifying. With 26 entrees signed in to battle they would compete for the top spots in both Fast Dash Qualilfying Races. In dash number 1 Tommy Kerr would show the way around the 3/8 oval to take the pole position for the 40 Lap Feature. Billy Ogle Jr. would see his dash end early as he spun in turn 4 placing the front of his car under the fence in turn 4, Anthony White would finish 2nd. In Dash #2 Ronnie Johnson would go on to win placing him in the 7th starting position for tonight feature. The Crate Late Model would take to the track for the first of two Heat races. In Heat race #1 Jeremy Pruett seemed to have all the answers on this night as he went on the win followed by Jack Hall and Josh Morrow. In Heat race # 2 previous winner #76 of Danny Pippins would go on to win followed by Dennis Slayton and Darel Ownbey. The Steel Headed Late Model had another full field of cars ready to compete for the winner's purse on this night. In Heat Race #1 Bryan Burke would finish in front of Derrick York and David Tindell and a Hard Charging Scott Boyd finishing in 4th. In Heat Race number 2 Mark Rosner in his #17 would go on to win over Dykie Gentry and Mike Price.

It was now time to race for all that counts the FEATURE'S. First up was the A-HOBBY in what could be described as an oval demolition derby, the caution outnumbered the Laps. With time limits strickly enforced and with mulitiple attempts to get all their laps in the Track Officials were forced to end their race early giving Lynn McNeese his first victory of the year. He was followed by Steve Tate, Dennis Grable and Lynn Gibson( who was forced to start last after missing the line-up call). The Crate Late Models were up next and with Jeremy Pruett and Danny Pippins starting on the front row, the fans were bound to see a race. Pruett took the early lead and was on his way to his first victory of the year only to see it go up in the dust as he spun his #5 after leading the first 13 laps. This gave the lead to Pippins which would go on to capture his second win of the year. He was followed by Josh Morrow, Blake Stewart and Dennis Slayton. It was now time for THE THUNDER to compete in the Summer Heat 40 lap Feature. Taking lessons from the A-Hobby they also seemed to struggle to complete laps without cautions. With outside poll sitter Anthony White spinning in turn two on the first lap he would have to make a quick pit stop to repair a flat tire placing him in the rear for the restart. This was just what pole sitter Tommy Kerr needed as he jumped to a quick lead on the restart. Kayne Hickman would retire early with mechanical problems along with the #32 of Lamar Scoggins. April Farmer brought out a caution that ended her night with heavy damage to the front of her #14. When things settled down Tommy Kerr made easy work while moving through lap traffic as he went on the capture the $4000 first place prize. He was followed by Rick Rogers, Jamie Perry, Stacy Boles and Ronnie Johnson rounding out the top five. The Steel Headed Late Model would enter the track for their turn at the high speed 3/8 mile oval. This race would be one of the best of the night as Rosner and Burke would battle early and often. With regulars Tindell, Prichard, Mayfield and Coffman in tow. But on this night Mark Rosner would take his first victory of the year at the New Boyd's Speedway followed by Derric York, Bryan Prichard, David Tindell and Brian Burke. The time final caught up with us on this night and the B-HOBBY were forced to postpone their FEATURE until next week where they will compete in DOUBLE FEATURES. It was a great night of racing with a standing room only crowd.

Next week will Feature a $1000 to WIN CRATE LATE MODEL AND $1000 TO WIN STEEL HEADED LATE MODEL FEATURES. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL IT WILL ALSO HAVE $500 TO WIN A-HOBBY AND B-HOBBY FEATURES, NOT DONE YET!
