Double features for AMS Legends Thurs. 7-17-08
Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Thursday Thunder Week Seven Notes
Church Colors Night featuring the Faster Pastor Race

HAMPTON, Ga. (July 14, 2008) – Atlanta Motor Speedway’s summer racing series, Thursday Thunder, returns to AMS’ quarter-mile “Thunder Ring” on July 17 for round seven of the 10-week racing series that runs each Thursday through August 7.

Week seven will feature twice the high-speed action with double feature races scheduled to make up for last week’s postponement. The evening is Church Colors Night and local churches are encouraged to come out and support their church leaders participating in the Faster Pastor race. The evening will also include an autograph session featuring the Chargers class drivers as well as weekly concourse activities, grandstand games and on-track racing action.

Church Colors Night featuring the annual Faster Pastor Race:

For Church Colors Night, week seven’s intermission will feature the Faster Pastor race, a bomber car race to crown the fastest pulpit preacher in the local area. The champion of the race will be invited to give the race invocation for the Pep Boys Auto 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, October 26.

Participating Church Racers
- Community Bible Church represented by children’s pastor Barry Kirkwood
- Community Bible Fellowship represented by pastor John Dewberry
- Glen Haven Baptist Church represented by pastor Stan Berrong
- McDonough Christian Church represented by youth minister David Sternberg
- New Birth South Metro Church represented by senior pastor Andre Landers
- Second Baptist Griffin represented by pastor Don Yarbrough
- Shiloh Baptist represented by youth leader Kenyatta Bush
- Solid Stone Ministries represented by senior pastor Keith Strickland

Double Feature Races for Week Seven:

Due to week six’s cancelation, week seven will play host to double feature races in order to complete a full 10-race season of points events. The postponed week six action will take place in addition to the scheduled week seven action, with the exception in the Thunder Roadster class. The Roadster’s week six race on AMS’ full-length 1.54 mile quad oval will be made up during the ninth week of Thursday Thunder competition.

Featuring a full slate of competitive racing, Thursday Thunder is an affordably-priced activity that offers something for spectators of all ages. Tickets are just $5 for adults and $1 for children 6-11 (children under 6 are free) for each evening of family fun and grass-roots racing. Gates open at 6 p.m., heat races start at 6:15 p.m. and feature races start at approximately 7:50 p.m. For more information about Thursday Thunder, contact the Atlanta Motor Speedway ticket office at (770) 946-4211 or visit www.atlantamotorspeedway.com
