ROME, GA—The Carl Black Automotive Top Track Challenge Series returned to the high banked half mile Rome Speedway Sunday night at 44 cars checked into run the 30 lap $1,500 to in event and when all the dust settled Frank Ingram of Acworth, GA., took home the first place money
Ingram started in the third spot behind the front row of Chris Cape and Alan Brewer and at the drop of the green flag Brewer moved into the lead and then looked strong in the early part of the race, but was knocked out before the halfway point as he was involved in a crash in turns one and two.
Ingram then would inherit the lead at this point and then he held to battle numerous cautions and lapped traffic as well as pressure from Cape and Michael Jones over the last half of the race.
The most serious accident came on lap 28 as Bryan Jackson started to barrel roll as he was entering turn three and wound up upside down. Track officials rushed to the scene and Jackson got out under his won poser and only complained of a sore ankle, but was later transferred to the hospital for observation.
The final two laps saw Ingram pull ahead of Cape to get his first win of the year with the series with Chris Cape coming in the second spot, third to Michael Jones, fourth to Todd Morrow who is the current series point leader and also came from the 23rd starting spot to finish fourth and also collect the $500 bonus from the Talladega/Rome challenge and fifth place went to Jerry Fowler.
Finishing in the sixth spot was Jake Knowles; seventh Mike Head, Blake Stewart eighth, Royce Bray ninth and tenth Dewayne Aldridge.
The next Carl Black Top Track Challenge Series event will be on Saturday night July 26th at the Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA
