Bill Elliott 50 Set for October 25, 2008 at Dixie Speedway WOODSTOCK, GA. - June 4, 2008 - Legendary NASCAR driver Bill Elliott and Dixie Speedway have teamed up with Motorsports Management International to create the most prestigious dirt late model race in Georgia; the Bill Elliott 50 scheduled for Saturday night, October 25, 2008. The event originally scheduled for October 2007 was postponed after the passing of Dixie Speedway VP and General Manager Mike Swims. Swims passed away on September 28, 2007 after battling cancer for seven years. "Mike and his entire family have been great ambassadors of racing in Georgia for a long time now. We share a long history as I got my racing career started on Dixie dirt. I look forward to racing again at Dixie and putting on a show that would make Mike proud," said Bill Elliott. The Bill Elliott 50 will host any and all drivers who are able to participate in this epic Super Late Model event. Many of Elliott's NASCAR racing friends who were slated to compete in 2007 are expected for the rescheduled event. Additional participants will be announced at a later date. "It is always a pleasure to have Bill back at Dixie. Race fans will be on the edge of their seats as they watch their favorite hometown drivers battle racing legends like Bill and other NASCAR drivers on the red clay of Dixie. This is definitely a show you do not want to miss," said Mickey Swims, President of Dixie Speedway. Advanced tickets for the Bill Elliott 50 will be available July 1, 2008.
