Atlanta Motor Speedway AMS RACING EVENTS: ***July 3 and 4: Thursday Thunder and Friday Night Drags Fireworks Extravaganza*** The night sky will be illuminated by thousands of exploding shells on both Thursday, July 3 and Friday, July 4. The largest fireworks show on the south side of Atlanta. For Thursday Thunder, kids ages 6-12 are admitted for only a dollar while adults pay only $5. Kids ages 5 years or under are admitted free. Gates open at 6 p.m. For drag racing, adults pay $7 to spectate and $20 to show a car or race. Kids 5 years of age and younger are admitted free. July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 and August 7: Thursday Thunder Weekly Summer Racing Series Tomorrow's stars of NASCAR compete weekly in Legends Cars, Bandolero Cars and Thunder Roadsters. Family-oriented fun in a kid-friendly environment which includes driver autograph sessions, rock climbing wall, clowns, face painters and more. Each night showcases a different theme packed with grandstand and trivia games, and more. Kids ages 6-12 are admitted for only a dollar while adults pay only $5. July 4, 11, 18, 25 and August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29: Friday Night Drags and Show N’ Shine Car Show Local competitors power up for weekly drag racing among several divisions. Everything from full blown dragsters to grandma's grocery getter will compete in side-by-side, heads-up drag racing along the speedway's pit road eighth-mile-drag strip. Plus, the Show-N-Shine Car Show offers the not-so-adrenaline powered the chance to show off their rides in the comforts of the NASCAR garage. Race fan car show along pit road, race fan participation and special events make for a great evening at the speedway. Admission is $7 dollars to spectate and $20 to show a car or race.
