Keith and Tader Masters Proudly Announce “Race Camp Academy”
Attendees of the MasterSbilt seminar were the first to hear about the Masters brother’s new venture into the world of motorsports education. Starting in the summer of 2008, the Masters will be opening a new camp for 14-20 year olds to experience the thrills of working on and with real life race cars.
“We have seen a decline in the number of youths and experienced help in the world of Dirt Late Model in the recent years. This comes from a variety of factors that include modern cars that are mostly computer operated and built to be worked on at the dealership instead of their owners. This has created a gap where kids today have never experienced working on cars. It can also come from factors such as more completion for entertainment. We have noticed that when some kids do want to help work on race cars that they are often turned down by local racers, the reason being that they need a team that already knows how to work on the cars and can’t afford to teach and race at the same time. In 10-15 years we will see it start to impact every business in our sport. We needed an outlet to let kids learn racing and give them a chance to fall in love with it.” -Keith Masters
The camp will operate in typical intervals of 2 weeks per group. Other time options will be announced at a later date. The camp will take 8 campers at a time. They will be divided into groups of 4 and put in charge of running 2 real race teams housed on the MasterSbilt property in new refurbished garage areas custom made for Race Camp. They will be responsible for everything from washing to crewing the cars. They will also go through class room sessions in class areas already complete on the grounds. Another exciting extra will be the camp dorm rooms. They are currently under construction and are being made to resemble the inside of the trailers professional team race around the country in. “We want the kids to get the real experience of racing” Masters commented on the custom built dorms. The camp will also feature field trips to racing businesses and guest lecturers from some of the finest in the racing industry.
The camp has already been working with some of the most famous companies in the racing Industry. Masters commented “We want this camp to benefit the entire racing world. It’s something that we are going to use to build the crew members, owners, and racing industry leaders of tomorrow. We also hope that this camp will be something that kids will really enjoy. We would also like to give kids that have only watched racing on television a chance to experience Dirt Late Model racing and really see what it’s about. That’s why we have decided not to just market it inside the racing world, but in the mainstream media nationwide. Several companies have also talked about sponsoring some kids that would typically not have the means to go to something like this, so we can give kids an experience that they will forget. I think that this will also help grow the sport of Dirt Late Model racing and that is something that everyone in the racing world will benefit from.”
Racers from around the nation will be supporting Race Camp Academy. Dirt Late Model stars Donnie Moran and Ronnie Johnson will be the first to sport Race Camp Academy decals and their cars when they take the track for the first times this season, with many more to follow. In the weeks to come look for more information and the official website, along with announcements of support from some the most influential names in the racing industry!!! “In this sport we are all one big family. We all love this sport and we want to see it grow and prosper. It is a sport that has given so much to us, and we want to give something back.” -Keith and Tader Masters, January 12, 2008
