GEORGIA STOCK CAR RACING.com Dec. 13-20, 2007
================= In the Christmas spirit, this will be the last racing newsletter until after Talladega’s Ice Bowl in early January. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. The www.georgiastockcarracing.com website is now controlled by Dale Terry, and will be updated and improved on a regular basis. The site’s Fan Forum welcomes your comments and complaints. =================
You might be a redneck, or maybe just a resourceful racer, if you use a Hoosier tire as a Christmas tree holder. Tammy Dehm, of Lexington, IL, posted this picture and description: “It has white lights, checkered ribbon, ornaments of our 5 favorite NASCAR guys, bulbs the colors of the racing flags (green, yellow, red, black, white and even blue with the yellow stripe for the layover flag). It also has picture ornaments of our family’s racing which includes my son’s racecars, my husband’s racecars, our twins when they were trophy girls, and the one powder puff I raced two years ago (don't ask, it was really ugly). For a topper, I took a car from a trophy and surrounded it with small checkered flags, then put black and white curly ribbons around the base of it.” After Christmas, she hopes to sell it for $1,000. Send bids to jimmy@jimmydehm.com She’s the mother of teenage driver Jimmy Dehm, who is a high honors student and math team geek at Lexington HS. www.jimmydehm.com

Georgia’s 2008 Asphalt Race Schedule 12-10-07 By Dale Terry (www.georgiastockcarracing.com)
Georgia’s asphalt racing fans, and race teams, will have nearly unlimted choices in 2008, as three traveling series for limited-motor, or crate-type, late models will visit the state’s top five short tracks. Micky Cain, who was general manager of the very successful Georgia Asphalt Series, has joined with former Lanier Speedway GM Stan Narrison and promoter John Kee, to start the Southeast Asphalt Tour, with plans for televised races and rules welcoming crate and other types of motors. Former racer Vince Whitmire is the new GM at Peach State Speedway, and will be running the Georgia Asphalt Series. The ASA Late Model Series South has four of its 11 shows in Georgia, but travels as far as Missouri, Florida, and North Carolina. Also visiting the state will be the Pass South Series for super late models for shows at Watermelon Capital Speedway and Lanier National Speedway, and the Hooters Pro Cup returns to South Georgia Motorsports Park in March. The Viper Series, at South Alabama Speedway in Opp, and Anderson Speedway and Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina, also attract many fans and race teams from the Peach State. Lanier is the only Georgia track running late models weekly, and will soon announce the schedule for their season’s special longer events. They start the season with a $2000 to win pro late model race, the Ice Cold Shriner’s Bowl, Jan. 12-13. Georgia’s 2008 Asphalt Schedule:

The Atlanta Braves are expanding their all-you-can-eat section to 2500 seats, at $35 to $70 each, in 2008. Lowe’s Speedway in charlotte tried this promotion for their fall NASCAR weekend, but we haven’t seen any numbers on sales.
The 2007 StormPay.com Dirt Late Model Series National Champion David Gentry of Lewisburg, TN, was disqualified of his fifth heat race win on Friday night. Gentry changed engines on Saturday morning, and StormPay.com DLMS officials tore down the engine Gentry used on Friday night. During the inspection, StormPay.com DLMS technical officials found an unapproved valve in Gentry’s engine.
